Update 16 April 2009: all priority phases have ended. .co.nl domains can now be registered like any other domain extension at your provider.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

To make sure that every person and every company has a fair chance to register its own .co.nl domain, the launch of the domain registrations is organized via a Sunrise\/Landrush\/GoLive procedure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to this procedure, every owner of a .nl and\/or a valid trademark registration has the exclusive opportunity to register the international variant of their domain name within the defined periods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sunrise 1: Grandfather<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Tuesday 18 November 2008 \u2013 Thursday 15 January 2009<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the Grandfather period, owners of a .nl have an exclusive right to register their .co.nl as well. This implies that a registrant owning mydomain.nl<\/em>, will be the only entity that has the opportunity to register mydomain.co.nl<\/em> during the Grandfather period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order to ensure that the applicant is the holder of the corresponding .NL domain name, the application agent will send a validation email to the email address appointed for the .NL domain name. Should the applicant fails to respond to this email in a 10 days delay, his application will automatically lapse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each application will be carefully checked by an independent Verification Agent and the .co.nl domain name will be assigned based on the outcome of the verification procedure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Grandfather will open and end at 10:00 am GMT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sunrise 2: Registered Trademarks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Tuesday 10 February 2009 \u2013 Tuesday 10 March 2009<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Domains that were not registered during Sunrise 1 (Grandfather) can still be claimed by trademark owners during the second phase. These applications will also be reviewed by a Verification Agent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Multiple eligible applications of the same .co.nl name received during the 2nd Sunrise period will be assigned on a first come first served basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This sunrise phase will also open and end at 10:00 am GMT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Landrush<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Tuesday 17 March 2009 \u2013 Tuesday 31 March 2009<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Landrush Period will be open to anyone without the requirements of prior rights and will allow customers to get their CO.NL domains sooner than in the general opening. It is also a great opportunity to get generic names before others want to. All domains will be awarded based on an algorithm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Landrush will open and end at 2:00 pm GMT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Go Live<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Wednesday 15 April 2009<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Go Live period will open on Wednesday the 15th of April 2009 at 2:00 pm GMT. Application requests can be made by the general public without any restriction or priority rights, and will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some names have been reserved by the CO.NL Operator for two different reasons:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Exclusion of registration for offensive or confusing names<\/li>\n\n\n\n
