Amsterdam, March 17th 2009 – The CO.NL Operator is glad to announce the opening of the CO.NL Landrush phase that will run for 14 days, starting today at 2:00 pm GMT and ending on March 31st at exactly the same time.
All applications are handled on a best-placed, first-served method, hence making no difference regarding the registrars’ submission dates.
The .CO.NL Operator has experienced two successful Sunrise periods, showing a rapidly growing interest for this new International extension, which offers brands as well as the end user a stronger visibility and more flexibility within the Dutch market.

Sander Scholten, CO.NL General Manager, explains, “Major brands were all registered during the first priority phases and many others are already active in the namespace, having taken advantage of our Premium Sunrise Policy. As for generics and keywords, they will become available for registration next Tuesday at 2:00 pm”.

The Landrush Period is available to anyone without requirements of any prior right and allows all customers to secure their CO.NL domains  of choice sooner than in the general opening. Scholten comments, “Any company or individual will be able to register any available domain name they choose. There is no local presence required, which makes it a great opportunity to get generic names first”.

Studies have shown that CO.NL domain names catch a lot of International traffic; moreover, with 3.32 million .NL domains are already registered, the .CO.NL subdomain has now become an interesting local alternative. While most big brands already secured their .CO.NL during the Trademark Sunrise period, many great keywords are still available for registration during the Landrush phase!
