Under this process, each participating Registrar has to submit during the two weeks of Landrush, via the API or the Web Interface, the domain names it wishes to apply for. Per registrar these applications constitute a list in its own order of importance, from the most valued to the less. The application that is submitted first will have the highest ranking, the last application will have the lowest Hence, Registrars have full control over the position of the domain names’ applications they submit and can decide which domain they value most and want to first offer for submission. The CO.NL Operator will select the highest positioned domain names and attribute them first. Resulting, it makes no difference whether a registrars starts submitting names the 17th of March or the 30th: it is the order in which the applications are send in that counts! In the case of multiple orders and lists containing the same domain, the position of the domain name in the list will be the determining factor to decide on its eligibility. The CO.NL operator will determine the percentage of the domain name’s position in a specific list and compare this percentage to the other lists containing the same domain name. The higher the domain is positioned in the list, the more important it is and the higher the percentage will be. As a result, the highest percentage will correspond to a win. To explain the procedure in a bit more detail a few simple examples: Suppose Registrar A will submit 6 applications. The ranking would look like this:
Registrar B submits 9 applications and the ranking of the names on their list will be:
If both Registrars applied for www.example.co.nl and both Registrars submitted this domain as fourth of their applied for domains, the name will be awarded to Registrar B. The objective of this method is to offer all registrars a proportional chance to register the names submitted in their list. No registrars will be subjected to privileges, whatever their size or importance. The same rules will apply to each registrar”. In a nutshell, the most valued domain names given by the registrar in its submission list will increase the eligibility chances for their best customers." |
